Lara’s Foundation was founded in April 2012, in memory of Lara Jones.

The English Language is the second most widely spoken language in the world, second only to Mandarin Chinese.

It is the leading language of international discourse, and has acquired use as lingua franca in many regions. It is widely learned as a second language and used as an official language of the European Union and many Commonwealth countries, as well as in many world organisations.

The ability to communicate in English, both oral and written, greatly enhances an individual’s employment choices, opportunities and earning capacity.

Lara was a dedicated and inspirational teacher, teaching English to non-native speakers of all backgrounds from around the world. Lara’s Foundation was established so that the dedication and kindness Lara showed towards her students will continue in spite of her death in March 2012, at the age of 26.

The goal of her Foundation is to assist in  increasing  English Language capacity in low-income communities around the world. We work with communities where such knowledge is essential to access higher education, enhance employment opportunities, and thus improve quality of life.

Lara’s Foundation also supports small local charities by funding the building of Educational   facilities and providing funding to enable low income individuals to complete their education. To date we have supported projects in Tanzania, Kenya and India.
